The future skyscraper is an architectural manifestation of the ubiquitous virtual stream of the internet. Misconceived as purely intangible and virtual space, the internet should be re-conceptualized and begin to formally embed its network into the contemporary urban fabric.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In response to the degraded urban environment, there was and continues to be a need to re-evaluation what context is deemed necessary and valuable. In this charged social atmosphere, the potential agendas of a design criteria must be publicly and politically recognized. This design sort to justify means of necessity in the face of the political dicotomy and economic strife, a topic very relevant even a decade later. Sited in Washington DC, this thesis documents an urban condition of segregation and gentrification. In relation to the transitional nature of the site, the architecture simultaneously explores the role of boundary in relation to political identity and cultural diversity.    </image:caption>

<image:caption>In the tragic wake of 9-11 and the bipartisan division in government elections, it was clear that there was a growing awareness toward that of community wholeness and the placement of self within. Authors in response to the growing concerns of America’s urban scarcity, such as Richard Sennnet, Leonie Sandercock, and Jane Jacobs, evaluate community design as an important instigator in the face of social awareness.     </image:caption>

      <image:title>Neutralize</image:title>
<image:caption>As a systemic concept, the architecture [1] re-evaluates the essence of community on a local scale, providing growth for a national and global response and [2] accesses the value of self in response to changing and challenged social identities, an issue heighted in awareness by post 9-11 environment. The architecture seeks to answer how our built environment, now acting as a force both brutal and beautiful, can neutralize globalized conflict of space while still maintaining value inherent in the individual user monologue.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Neutralize</image:title>
<image:caption>The architecture, responsive as need specific space, encourages provocative encounters through a didactic process of experience and time-related phenomenon. The interaction gives chance to expose and exchange the self and allows the architecture to display and displace the binary logic through which identities of difference are often constructed. The architecture emphasizes a mutation, nameless in quality. The program drives this neutrality, developing economic-driven relations between identities to dispel improvised conditions in the urban community.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Neutralize</image:title>
<image:caption>Due to the variety of urban needs, the architecture is designed as a prototypical unit, able to expand over time in response to adjusting communities. Represented here, the built unit supports the functions of a soup kitchen, a restaurant and a grocery store. In other cases, however, a library, a literacy center and classrooms may be inserted as program into a similarly constructed unit. The user is able to reference normality through everyday habitual agendas but is unable to name the space due to a disturbance in the common program and visual architecture. The hybridity of stereotyped program such as office space, hospitals, child care facilities, café, kitchens is not only physically provocative through encounters in the architecture but also gives to the viewer, through a didactic process of experience and time related phenomenon, the chance to expose and exchange the self.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In each unit, a three-foot wide truss weaves throughout the architecture, maintaining the individuality of each program while expanding the typical wall, a usually idle entity, into a dynamic ’third’ space for exchange and displacement. Composed of multiple mobile storage boxes, the structural system allows the grocery store on the thrid floor to supply food to the soup kitchen that in turn supplies meals to the community; the architecture, maintaining the system from the ground up, references a symbolic and literal community foundation.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The liminal space, the in-between of mobile and static program, becomes symbolic interaction; the hither and thither of the communities. The temporal movement and passage prevents primordial polarities and encourages human displacement. The interstitial space imposes collaboration between fixed identities, posing the possibility of a cultural hybridity that entertains differences without an assumed or imposed hierarchy. In fact, all that controls is in effect the architecture, its character a watchtower of sorts to stimulate value development and dialogues of difference across social and economic boundaries.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Consistently altering its formal context, the architecture exploits diversity by monitoring and collecting change and interaction as positive human traits. Though diverse energies, the architecture looks to dynamically blur social boundaries, actively exposing the economic and political downfalls as common ground on which to develop interaction and dialogue. The boundaries, lacking identification, inform the architecture to this nameless quality, delving positive value for the neutralization of a common ground.</image:caption>

Designed with sustainability in mind by Faulkner Architects in 2005, this architectural masterpiece offered a high-end ceremony and wedding reception experience with the luxury of being surrounded by glorious sweeping views of the Truckee River Valley and KT-22 in the distance. To compliment such splendor, the design of the wedding suite sort to find a harmonious balance between the beauty of Schaffer's Camp and the glamor of a wedding by lending itself to subtle cues from the surrounding environment and Lake Tahoe landscapes. By doing so, the design effortlessly fit with the architecture and successful told a simple yet elegant story.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Wild Ridge is poised on a shelf that falls away steeply on three sides. The home generously overlooks both the East Bay as well as the western Foothills. As is interwoven in the design ethics at Field Architecture, one looked to the site for clues and inspiration as an answer for the most appropriate design response.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Wildridge</image:title>
<image:caption>The sitting of the house was explored through many different options, each beautifully oriented in their own right, but ultimately one was selected. the final selection respected the original road and avoided any further cutting into the hill.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Reusing only the already disturbed area of the site for the new residence was a given. The perfect North-South alignment of the house captures both primary vistas, allowing the house to act as a virtual sundial. It tracks the day and the seasons, directly synchronizing with its natural surroundings and its sense of place.</image:caption>

<image:caption>As an internal office directive, this was also a project on which one focused on modeling all aspcts of the building, including the structural elements within the architectural model. The goal was to push REVIT to its potential, to provide a high quality coordination efforts, and to ensure all aspects of the design were manifested and considered prior to the start of construction.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Charged with enhancing the vista from an existing residence overlooking a vast valley, our initial endeavor involved a reduction of the building's substantial and imposing structure, which was in competition with the modest hillside location. This entailed the removal of the pitched roof and a tall bay window on the front facade, while the two upper levels were elegantly situated atop a garage featuring a dark metal cladding. The horizontal alignment of these upper volumes imparts an almost weightless quality, harmoniously complementing the sloping terrain of the site.</image:caption>

Encircling an existing Japanese maple, the primary entrance stairway reinforces the harmonious union of the natural world and architectural form.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Each residence in this venerable edifice commands an entire floor, affording residents breathtaking, unobstructed vistas of San Francisco, encompassing iconic landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Sutro Tower. Given the presence of the original historic double hung, pivot, and bay windows, we were inspired to imbue a classical aesthetic into the project's trim and doors, while leveraging simplicity to showcase the surrounding natural beauty.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The introduction of subtly detailed cabinetry, custom steel doors, unadorned stone slabs, and modern lighting fixtures effectively complemented the more conventional elements. The choice of consistently painting the trim and walls in white gently unveils the intricacies of the molding profiles through the interplay of natural light and shadow. This design approach tactfully minimizes the architectural focal point in order to accentuate the artwork and the panoramic views.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Great attention to detail was devoted to every aspect of the project. The millwork package was meticulously crafted by the project builder, Dowbuilt, in their Seattle workshop, and local San Francisco artisans were enlisted for the creation of custom steel profiles and stone slab components. Notably, the crown molding in the living room and dining room was painstakingly carved by the skilled artisan Paul McCarthy, hailing from Nantucket. Furthermore, oak floors were masterfully installed in a Hungarian Point pattern, imparting a more understated and refined design compared to the conventional herringbone pattern.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The most pressing issue facing humanity today is climate change. Building construction and operation play a disproportionately significant role in exacerbating the adverse impacts of climate change, contributing to as much as 40% of the global CO2 emissions. Architects hold a pivotal position within the construction industry, guiding the flow of materials and championing innovative, sustainable building practices across various scales. The driving force behind the Jeb’s Court project is the Client's aspiration to lead a carbon-conscious lifestyle in retirement, complemented by my unwavering commitment to pursuing uncompromising and high-impact climate solutions as the foundational principle for each project I am fortunate to be involved in.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Set within a pristine, snow-covered landscape, this Passivhaus-inspired project beautifully exemplifies harmonious coexistence with its natural surroundings. Taking cues from the majestic tree-scape that envelops it, the exterior materials reflect the layers of local pines. Dark bark tones on the exterior give way to soft, warm hues within when gently revealed. The careful placement of the home gracefully follows the natural slope, nestling beside an existing Jeffrey Pine, while strategically positioned windows frame captivating views of snow-covered branches just beyond. Notably, the undulations in the rear facade offer private and public vantage points, each capturing the breathtaking vistas of the mountains in the distance.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This residential project currently under construction in San Carlos was originally initiated in response to a client's request for a prefabrication-focused approach. It has since evolved into an in-house exploration, aimed at achieving a delicate balance between cost-efficiency and the preservation of a high standard of design integrity. Remarkably, this endeavor has succeeded in maintaining this equilibrium at an impressively economical rate per square foot, all while demonstrating a commitment to meticulous craftsmanship.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The attention to detail in the delivered models is clear, with features such as revealed baseboards, flush thresholds, modern cabinetry, as well as a custom open-riser steel-plated stairwell and exterior shading elements. This project not only achieves these feats but also epitomizes the seamless fusion of indoor and outdoor living spaces.</image:caption>
